    application tips
    Eye DiagramBrow Tips
Start by brushing your brows upwards with a toothbrush. Use the tip of the pencil (held so it is almost parallel with the brow) and apply in the direction you want your brows to set, using short, soft, feathery strokes between the individual brow hairs. Apply slightly more pressure and repeat application for a stronger, more dramatic brow (be careful not to overdo it!). Start just beyond where the brow begins (usually where the hairs are the fullest) and pencil back from there to the tail end of the brow. This will help prevent creating a severe, angry-looking brow. After applying the pencil, brush the brows back into place using a toothbrush. Remember, the idea is to softly shade, not draw on, eyebrows.

If you are reshaping eyebrows that are set high, away from the eye area, place the color directly underneath the eyebrow. Do not apply brow pencil color more than one-quarter inch away from where actual hair growth stops, or your efforts will look fake.

For brows that are closer to the eye, it is best to keep the pencil color only on the brow hairs to avoid a heavy or too-dark appearance.

If you have over-tweezed brows, first stop all tweezing! Then use Ultra-Thin Eye & Brow Pencil or our Soft Matte Eyeshadow with our Wedge/Brow Brush to lightly "draw in" or recreate your natural brow shape.

For the most natural looking brow, match the pencil to the exact color of your brows rather than your hair color. The exception to this rule is light blonde eyebrows. Using a slightly dark blonde or pale taupe shade is advisable to make brows more visible. If you have extremely sparse or no brow hairs, a powder eyeshadow applied to the natural brow bone is preferred to pencil.

    Eyeliner Tips
Position the pencil as close to the lash line as possible and draw a thin line with one fluid stroke, following the curvature of your eyelid. You can line all the way across the upper eyelid (from the inside corner to the outer edge) or you can begin and end the line where your eyelashes stop and start. It is best to line only the outer two-thirds of the eye along the lower lash line. Initially, keep the line as thin as possible. If a thicker line is desired, repeat the application process above until the line looks the way you want. An attractive option is to draw a thin line and then make it thicker at the outer third of the eyelid. Do not extend the line past the outer corner of the eye and avoid applying the liner too close to the tear duct (a surefire way to promote runny eyeliner).

Be sure to use a lighter color on your lower lash line than you use on your upper lash line, and leave some space on the inside corner of the eye where the lashes end. This prevents a severe look and won't visually "close up" the lower lash line (the effect can make eyes appear smaller than they are).

Always make sure that upper and lower eyeliner meet at the eye's outer corner.

The thickness and intensity of your eyeliner should ideally be determined by the size of your eyelid. Those with larger eyelids look best with thicker, softer lines while smaller eyelids look best with a thinner, more intense line. If your upper eyelid is not visible at all, do not bother lining it.

For reasons of hygiene and eye safety, do not apply Ultra-Thin Eye & Brow Pencil to the rims of your eyes. Doing so is potentially risky for the health of your eyes, will encourage smearing, and can lead to watery eyes.
