Directions: Apply straight from the tube or use Paula's Choice Lipstick Brush for a more exact, precise application.
It is helpful to apply lipliner prior to lipstick to define and shape the mouth as well as to provide an "anchor" for the lip color to enhance its wear.
It is also an option to apply lipstick first, blot, then apply lipliner and blend with a brush to soften the line. Apply more lipstick if needed.
Do not attempt to reshape or redraw the mouth with lipstick or lipliner! As a general rule, those with small lips should stick with creamy or matte lipsticks in lighter, bright colors and those with large, full lips can opt for matte or creamy but should be cautious with very dark, bold, or bright colors.
Lipstick is an essential step for a full makeup application (NOT lip gloss, which is too sheer and fleeting). Applying color to the lips will balance a face already enhanced with cheek color and eyeshadow/liner.
If your lipstick has caked or your lips have dried a bit, make sure you wipe off any traces of lipstick before reapplying. Forgetting to do this will make reapplication look sloppy and unattractive. If the dryness is severe, apply a lip balm or gloss prior to your lipstick.
Lipstick and/or lipliner almost always cake up if they are applied to the inner corners of the mouth. For the sake of a neat, beautiful application, stop the lipstick just before the mouth's inner corner!
The color of your lipstick should be tonally similar to that of the rest of your makeup. An example of what does not work would be wearing an obvious plum or mauve blush with an obvious coral-toned lipstick.
You can use the Smooth Matte Lipstick as a base, blot it down to a stain, and apply a gloss (try Paula's Choice Soft Shine Moisturizing Lip Gloss) for a longer-lasting, glossy finish. For those who find a true matte lipstick too drying, a sheer application of lip gloss will remedy this without losing too much longevity.

I love the smooth matte lipstick in Sunset Blush. I can wear it with anything, it's a great neutral color. I love multi-purpose products and also use this lipstick for a cream blush. It lasts all day, it's great. I dab a bit onto my finger tips and pat it onto my cheeks and blend. One product for a two-fold purpose. Thanks Paula!

Desert Rose may be the best color in smooth matte lipsticks, but does anyone talk about the fact that it goes on really smoothly, and stays in place perfectly for hours? I may walk the dog with no makeup (now that my skin looks so good, courtesy of your cleansing and skincare products). But I never am without lipstick. At 58, I know my brands, and price is no gauge. Please never discontinue Desert Rose.

I wanted to let you know how much I like the Smooth Matte lipstick. I have tried lip stains and found that nothing lasts as long on my lips as the Smooth Matte! It's quite comfortable and I hope you never discontinue my favorite colors Rose Brown and Mocha Pink, both very natural looking on my fair complexion.

Smooth Matte Lipstick
I recently purchased the sampler pack, thinking I'd be lucky to find one shade that both looks good on me AND that I really like. Surprise Surprise! They ALL look good on me, apply smoothly and last all day. In my purse right now - Rose Brown and Just Kissed - indispensable shades that work with whatever I'm wearing and are now a staple in my cosmetic bag.
