    application tips
Directions: Sheer Perfection Pressed Powder can be applied with one of our Powder Brushes for use as a finishing powder or with our Makeup Sponge (applied wet) if it is being used as a foundation. A standard pressed powder puff may be used as well by those who prefer a more opaque, slightly heavy application of powder—but be careful not to overdo!

For brush application, pick up some powder on the full end of the brush, knock off the excess, and brush it on using the same motion and direction as you used for your foundation. Applying everything in the same direction (brushing down) helps to maintain a smooth appearance.

For sponge application, wipe the sponge over the powder cake and then apply it evenly to the face using light stroking motions. Remember to knock the excess powder off and stroke downward. It may be necessary to give the face a "once over" with your powder brush to avoid an overly powdered look, but as long as the skin does not look caked or flaky, this is really more personal preference.

During the day, if you need to touch up your makeup, it is helpful to use Oil Blotting Papers (or, in a pinch, a tissue) to dab away excess oil from the skin before powdering again. With this method, you use less powder and can maintain a natural but finished look.

Some makeup artists use a powder puff (particularly those who do television makeup) to "press" the powder into the skin to create a very flat, matte finish. This creates a heavier application.

Powder is a great "fix-it" tool to have at the ready for softening blush that is too strong or bright, blending the edges of eyeshadow or a too-dark crease color and softening an overzealous application of contour or bronzer. Dear Paula, I just wanted to let you know how much I love all of your products. I will be 46 in Sept., and my skin has NEVER looked better. No one ever believes my age and I am usually mistaken for a person in my early 30s. I especially want to rave about your new sheer powder. I have not used foundation since I first tried it! I use it alone and it is beautiful. Thanks for everything you and your staff do!
