    application tips
Directions: Use the Brow/Hair Tint as your last or close-to-last product. You do not want any of your powder-based products to cling to your brows or mess your neatly created brows!

Gently stroke one or two coats of the Brow/Hair Tint onto each eyebrow (similar to how you apply mascara, but without being overzealous), being careful not to get it on the forehead or on the skin underneath the brow.

Guide the brush in the direction you want your brows to set, using the longer bristled side of the brush for a naturally defined look and the shorter bristled side of the brush for areas that need more defining or emphasis. It helps to start just beyond where the brow starts (usually where the hairs are the fullest) and brush back from there to the tail end of the brow. This will help prevent creating a too-strong, "angry-looking" brow.

Be patient—it will probably take you a few times through to get the hang of it. You may also find that you need to play around with the amount of product on the brush to get the correct amount for the look you want. If you want fuller brows, it is more than worth a try!

It is still a viable option to use a matte powder eyeshadow to define and fill in the brows (See Paula's Choice Soft Matte Eyeshadow). Some cosmetics companies market brow powders, which are virtually identical to powder eyeshadows, save for the addition of waxes to alter the product's texture.

If you need to tame your brows but do not want or need any color, there are numerous brow gels to try, from Cover Girl to Trish McEvoy. However, a cost-effective way to do this is to use a bit of hairspray or non-sticky styling gel with an old (but still in good condition) toothbrush. Just brush through the brows to set, and you're done.

Eyebrow pencils have several problems: they need sharpening, they tend to have texture that's too dry, which hurts to apply or a texture that's too greasy, which will smudge and/or fade, and it takes a lot of skill and effort to get brow pencils to look convincing. Still, some women are adept at this and prefer the look of a pencil. The worst mistake made with these is trying to "draw" on brows where none exist—this rarely looks natural and often appears too severe.

If you have over-tweezed your brows, the first thing to do is stop all tweezing (for some women this takes much restraint!) and then use a matte powder eyeshadow with a wedge brow brush to lightly "draw in" or recreate your natural brow shape. Tweezing too far into the top of the natural browline will alter the brow's shape, and not always in a flattering way. For best results, tweeze hairs from the underside of the brow and go slowly. Once a hair has been plucked, it can take weeks to fully grow back. For more tips on tweezing, see The Beauty Bible, 2nd Edition.

Brow/Hair Tint does not have a thick enough consistency to be used as a mascara.

I've been following your advice for over twenty years. I am grateful that you have your own product line. I love the brow tint! It's much tidier than pencils and powders. I love my beautiful eyebrows.
    —Marley B.

I have been using your products for several years and love how my skin looks. I'm 61 and everyone raves about my skin. I also have your brow tint (fawn) and I wanted to let you and your readers know that I've been using the wedge brow brush with the brow tint and get really great natural results. Thank you so much for your high quality products.

Covers gray roots perfectly between colorings!
I have dark hair with some gray, and this perfectly covers gray hair around my face and partline. I can go 1-2 weeks longer between colorings because of it!
    —Katie

    Excellent Product!
I love your brow gel. It works double duty by covering those stubborn gray hairs at your temple (on color treated hair). Seems like the color nevers holds there, so this is a lifesaver!
    —Lorie B.

    praises for brow tint
I did not think the packaging of this product could get any better. Boy, was I wrong! The new packaging is great - smaller brush that offers just the right amount of product and application control for beautiful, naturally enhanced brows. I mix the Blonde and Fawn shades and get perfect results every time. Thank you Paula!
    —E. Rose
